Limpar – The story behind my move to Arsenal
The former Swedish international discusses the move – and his first impressions of English football
The sport of western boxing has had a lot of fans since the early days of the late 19th century in America. Even when organized public fighting matches were still considered a crime punishable by time in jail and a fine they drew a horde of spectators. But then again, who doesn’t love a good fight?
Fighting way back then looked a whole lot different than fighting currently does. Over the years more science and research has been done, into human movement and fitness. The upright postures with hands held low that make early boxing easy to identify have been changed over the years.
In the 21st century, fighters appear more fluid, more aggressive, and in a crouched stance. Legs bent, body weight forward on toes. Unlike the fighters of yesteryear, today, a fighter today uses his hands as well as shoulders to obscure and protect that path that leads right to the “kisser”, or “button”.
The fighters main weapons continue to be his hands, while they also use a lot of holding, pushing, and leaning on strategies to wear down their opponent. With those weapons, there is generally an arsenal of 8 specific punches that a good fighter will develop. From these eight punches there is an incredible array of “combinations” that can be thrown as he tries to get past the defenses of the opponent in the opposite corner.
This list is a brief description of those 8 punches of boxing:
This list of 8 punches are what most boxers use as their arsenal against their opponent. Anyone can use them and they don’t have to be a boxer per se. Consistent practice is an excellent upper body workout that has many advantages. Not the least of which is building muscle while at the same time burning calories.
Season on season stars are born in the most prestigious and glamorous league of the world. Be it goal-machine Cristiano Ronaldo or the prolific Chelsea scorer Didier Drogba or Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, everyone plays for a reason. Fame, money and substance follows the best in the breed.
Now let us look at the players who are favorites for this season of Barclays Premier League :
1 – Cristiano Ronaldo
Club: Manchester United
The best and safest bet to put your money on is Cristiano Ronaldo. He has been the buzz of the summer regarding his transfer to Spanish club Real Madrid. And why not, we are talking of a player who scored 42 goals in a season, winning his team both Premier League and UEFA Champion’s league. With the news that he’s going to stay ateast for one more season at Old Trafford ManU fans can expect their third consecutive Premiership title this season.
While Sir Alex Ferguson is yet to sign a striker for the team (most proabaly Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov), Ronaldo along with Wayne Roonay and Tevez forms one of the most lethal forward line-up to face with. If he continues his scoring streak, he surely is the best that Premiership can offer this season.
2 – Didier Drogba
He has done it before and he can do it again. To win big games for Chelsea. A prolif striker of the ball Didier Drogab is the only player whose presence gives Chelsea any hopes of winning titles this season.
With both Premiership and UEFA Championship’s loss to rivals Manchester United being very close, Drogba will be accompanied this time by ex-Barcelona
playmaker Deco to fill up th gaps. World Cup wiining coach Luis Felipe Scolari will also accompany them for the titles this season.
3 – Fernando Torres
Right man in right time at wrong place describes ace Liverpool striker Fernando Torres the best. After his wonderful season in 2007/08 Liverpool couldnot afford any titles as they lack players in other sections of the field.
This year, with Robbie Keane partnering him towards the goal post Liverpool can hope of any miracles. But Torres is the key player, and if he scores 40+ goals and Keane adds some then who knows, they might pull off something. Afterall football isn’t always prediaction.
4 – Cesc Fabregas
Position: Central midfielder
Young and refreshing, Cesc will return to Arsenal with winning memories of Euro Cup winning. Arsenal has lost its top players this summer, but Samir Nasri’s inclusion in the team could do some young-wonders for Arsenal.
Cesc Fabregas’s performance, both in international and club football has been promising, but comparisons of him with Thierry Henry is like expecting a lot from the young legs.
5 – Jo
Club: Manchester City
This Brazilian International is no easy customer to deal with. All of 21, the product from South American soccer giant Brazil, Jo will have to play a huge role in Man City because of their financial problems to bring in good players.
6 – Peter Crouch
The tallest player in EPL with 6’7″, Crouch is considered by many as a under-rated player. With a goal per game ratio of 2 for national team England, his presence in Liverpool was nothing more than a substitute. He surely has found a right place to play in.
This was our list of some players to watch out for this season. Let us know which players found a place in your list of favorites.

Q-Bert is a character that people have heard of, but he did not enjoy the fanfare that characters like Mario and Sonic have. But he stood out and avoided being just another face in the crowd and was pretty successful in the arcades. But in this discussion, I will be talking about Q * Bert 3, the game on Super Nintendo.
This game is a puzzle game with a pretty interesting concept. You take the titular character, Q * Bert and have him jump around on blocks that change color as you step on them. In order to move on, you basically have to change all of the blocks to a certain color. But as the game goes on, that is easier said than done. In the first part of the game it's very simple, but you will always have blocks that you will have to step on twice to get to the certain color. Later on, blocks that you changed from one color to another will change back to the original color if you step on them again, then making the challenge much harder.
As if the challenges were not enough, you have enemies that try and thwart your attempt at block jumping. Enemies range from snakes, frogs, small and weird creatures, among other enemies. You also have bombs that fall which you must avoid. Some enemies just go all over the place while others are like homing missions that you will have to be on the lookout for. You'll also have to watch your step, because falling off the stage will cost you.
The game play is addicting. And that is coming from a person that is not all that interested in puzzle games (though I have played some). The later challenges will keep you on the roads, and the block jumping is always cool. The music in this game is not the best in the world, but it fits the happy go lucky theme of the game. Sound effects do their job as well.
I think Q-Bert 3 is a game that is worthy for your arsenal. It does its job well as a puzzle game, and the block loading is always fun. My brother and I actually stayed up all night one time to play this because we wanted to keep ourselves entertained. This is a great game.
“Plants vs. Zombies” is just one of the video games that achieved phenomenal success. But apart from killing time, does it provide any practical use in life?
The zombie craze is everywhere. Writers have been inspired to revive these brain-dead creatures that have hit it really big. Sorry, Rick Grimes, but they have virtually invaded the world and there is no stopping them. They have movies, TV shows, and games!
Thus, came the PopCap Games sensational hit: Plants vs. Zombies. Initially designed for the OS X and Windows, it is now compatible with Nintendo, Xbox, Android, Blackberry, and Apple devices. Several versions have been released, including one for Facebook.
Designed to be simple enough for casual players to learn, yet challenging enough for hardcore gamers, Plants vs. Zombies has gained a following. In fact, it remains to be the fastest selling PopCap Games video game since 2009. The world is obsessed with Plants vs. Zombies-and zombies per se-that just about everyone you come across plays or knows it.
So, what’s so special about the game? Does anyone actually benefit from shelling out a couple of dollars to purchase the latest version released every year or so?
If you are skeptical about the long-term effects of gaming, you are not alone. Ever since video games came to be, a number of people-mostly adults-have condemned video games as a waste of time and money. This inspired studies to determine the impact of gaming. The results were remarkably positive, leading to the creation of digital learning tools.
In a nutshell, people learn faster when they’re having fun. Think about it. Would you rather sit through a three-hour lecture delivered by a monotonous speaker than learn Mandarin through an interactive app equipped with all sorts of fancy features?
Plants vs. Zombies won’t teach you Mandarin, but it can improve your problem-solving skills. It immerses you into a virtual environment that simulates a probable life threatening situation-although exaggerated. You know it is superficial, yet you physiologically respond to it as though it’s real.
Here are three key game features that can enhance your decision-making and other survival skills:
Weapon Selection. You start out with a basic arsenal composed of sunflowers and pea shooters. As you move to higher levels, you unlock additional artillery. Simultaneously, you will be faced with armed zombies. To spice things up, you reach the point when you can arm yourself only with a limited number of weapons. This pushes you to weigh the pro’s and con’s of your choices.
Site Challenges. Arsenal constraints. Tougher enemies. You’re just warming-up. The real challenge comes when the game introduces new environments. The absence of sunlight and a pool in the backyard increase the threats and hazards. This calls for flexibility in your part, enabling you to adopt to different conditions and adjust your weapon preferences.
Time Pressure. Frankly, the pop-up warnings kill the suspense. Nonetheless, the game manages to bring in a number of conflicts that increase stress levels, ultimately testing your mental preparedness and alertness.
These three characteristics of Plants vs. Zombies are just a few of the many ways in which games serve as mental crunches. Still not convinced that gaming has its benefits? Or are you a wee bit encouraged to gift your kids the latest Xbox or Nintendo versions? The best way to win yourself over is to take the game for a test drive and find out for yourself.
In spite of being criticized as a mere distraction from the tedium, games have proven to be effective instructional tools. Just like Plants vs. Zombies, most video games are not intended to educate, but they can enhance skills necessary in solving real life problems. Truly, there’s fun in learning.
